The 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (model A056) is a fast standard telephoto zoom lens developed for mirrorless full format cameras from Sony. Its most outstanding feature is the high image quality with a consistently high open aperture of F/2.8 as well as its handy housing. With a length of only 149 mm (at 70mm) and a weight of only 810 g, it is the lightest and most compact lens in its class1. Several special optical glasses ensure excellent imaging performance from the centre to the edges of the image. Automatic focusing takes place with the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) autofocus newly developed by Tamron. The short focusing distance of 0.85 m opens up new photographic expression options for the user. A special feature of the 70-180mm F/2.8 is its ability to focus an object at 70mm with manual focus from a short distance of only 0.27m2.
